Child & Family Services Wheels for Work Program
The Child & Family Services Wheels for Work Program provides loans to low income
families of Erie County who are in need of transportation to get to their jobs.
The loans can be used for vehicle repair or to purchase vehicles that have been
donated to the program.
Who Is Eligible To Apply?
You qualify for a loan if you are:
- A resident of Erie County;
- A member of a family that includes a minor child under the age of 18; or have a
child under age 19 attending a secondary school or its equivalent. If a non-custodial
parent, a child support order is established if the custodial parent has requested
child support services from the district; and if
- Your TANF eligible or gross family unit income does not exceed 200% of the federal
poverty guidelines and you are unable to access conventional credit.
Loans are serviced by First Niagara Bank, and timely monthly payments develop positive
credit histories, helping families to reach their financial goals. The program offers
members of the community the opportunity to help working families as they transition
from welfare to work. The New Yor State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance funds
this innovative program designed to provide reliable transportation to working families.
