Child & Family Services is pleased to announce the addition of a new Board Chair and three additional Board Members to its 2011-2012 Board of Directors.
Barbara A. Piazza, Esq. is a member of the Rosenthal, Siegel and Muenkel, LLP law firm where she practices matrimonial and family law. As of July 1st, 2011, Ms. Piazza has been named the Board Chair of the Child & Family Services Board of Directors. Ms. Piazza has been an active board member with Child & Family Services since 2001. She has participated in the agency’s Annual Giving Campaign, Heartlight fund raiser, and most recently collaborated with other board members to establish the 2011 Legal Community Division Appeal fund raising campaign for the Stanley G. Falk School. Ms. Piazza was recently awarded the William B. Hoyt Advocacy Award; she is also the past recipient of the John N. Walsh, Jr. Board Appreciation Award. She is a member of the Erie County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association where she serves as a member on the Law, Youth and Citizenship Committee.
Albert C. Erni is a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, where he recently earned the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. In that capacity, he helps families plan for their pre-and post-retirement needs. As a Financial Advisor, Albert Erni assists families, individuals and business owners in the development of successful, long–term personal and business financial strategies. Albert graduated from Medaille College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1995 and has served as a loan committee member with Child & Family Services’ Ways to Work Loan program for twelve years prior to becoming a board member. He lives in Cheektowaga with his wife Tonya, their sons Albert Jr. and Joshua, and daughter Candace.
Christine Garvelli is the Operations Manager for the Personal Insurance Division at the Walsh Duffield Companies. Upon graduating from SUNY Brockport, Ms. Garvelli began her insurance career in Rochester, NY working in marketing and underwriting. She moved to Buffalo with her husband and three sons Joe, Jacob, and Justin in October of 1996. In the fall of 2001, she took time off from her career, to earn her Masters Degree in Education from D’Youville College. Upon graduation, she spent two years in the Williamsville School District as a Substitute Teacher teaching business classes to high school students. In her spare time, Ms. Garvelli volunteers for the United Way; is a board member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Western New York, and volunteers her time to the St. Pius X Religious Education program in Getzville, NY.
David J. Luzon is an attorney with Phillips Lytle LLP. Mr. Luzon’s concentrates his law practice in the areas of Family Wealth Planning, Canadian Cross Border, Tax and Not-For-Profit. He graduated Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 1997. Mr. Luzon sits on the Board of Directors for the Financial Planning Counselors of Western New York, Inc. and is a member of the 2011 Class for Leadership Buffalo. He was awarded the Medaille College Ambassador Award.
