Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies (COFCCA) Buffalo Regional Advocacy meeting was held at Child & Family Services Wednesday,October 21st. Representatives from local child and welfare services as well as local legislative representatives attended a round table meeting.
Each of the organizations acknowledged the legislators for their involvement and dedication to the 2015-2016 MSAR 2% increase to the foster care rates and spoke about the impact the increase will have on their agency’s programs, services, and the youth that they serve. The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and the Division of the Budget (DOB) approved the increase after seven years of stagnate rates with the support of local legislators. This round table storytelling helps to get the members present at the meeting to connect with the various programs we have and children we serve. The COFCCA is the principal representative for not-for-profit organizations providing foster care, adoption, family preservation, juvenile justice and special education services in New York State.
