The James H. Cummings Foundation, Inc. recently awarded Child & Family Services a $20,000 grant. The grant will fund work needed on the exterior structure of Haven House including routine repairs and preventive maintenance work.
Haven House, Erie County’s only licensed domestic violence shelter, is a program of Child & Family Services. Haven House provides a safe continuum of care for victims and survivors so that they can fully operationalize their options and maximize their true potential. External repair and preventive maintenance is required to keep Haven House structurally safe and sound so that clients can find internal peace and healing, as well as to prevent future, more expensive repairs. Although it was constructed as a state-of-the-art facility, thirteen years have passed and certain key elements are at the point in their lifecycle where they need to be repaired. Repairs will include tuck-pointing, brick waterproofing and hot water tank replacements.
