Lighting the Falls in Purple for Domestic Violence Awareness
Child & Family Services' commemorated Domestic Violence Awareness Month with the 5th annual lighting at Niagara Falls.
The majestic falls were illuminated in purple in support of all the survivors of domestic violence. Prior to the lighting, Haven House hosted a press conference infront of more than a dozen guests. A domestic violence survivor spoke in public for the first time and told her message of hope and shared that there is help out there to others who need it. Other speakers included: Advocate Emily Chuba on behalf of elder abuse; a teen volunteer from Haven House who addressed dating violence; along with a special unveiling of an art project crafted by the children living at Haven House.
At the same time the falls were lit, the Peace Bridge was also lit in purple from 8pm - 2am.
