June 7 marks the 20-year anniversary at Child & Family Services for Elizabeth McPartland, Chief Operating Officer.
Beth first discovered C&FS while working at an in-patient children’s unit at BryLin Hospital. She said, “I saw children who were unable to be discharged because they were in foster care and there wasn’t an appropriate discharge resource identified. I called a family friend who worked at C&FS, learned about an opening in the foster care department, and was thrilled to get the job!”
Working her way up the corporate hierarchy, Beth has served in many roles prior to becoming the Chief Operating Officer – including Behavioral Specialist, Adoption Specialist, Program Coordinator and Human Resource Generalist. ”I am grateful that I have been able to change jobs within C&FS, to learn different things and see the organization from different perspectives,” Beth explained. “I have held 7 different positions while working here and have loved every one.
While working here, Beth has earned many distinctions, including being named to the Business First 40 Under 40 list as well as the Buffalo 612’ C-Level Executive list. But to Beth, one thing has always stood out about her time at C&FS. “The people, of course,” Beth exclaimed. “I love working with dedicated people who are making a positive impact on our community,”
When asked what advice she would give to new C&FS employees, Beth said, “Speak up if you are interested in learning about other positions within the agency! Instead of focusing on a career ‘ladder’, consider the career web that is available to you that includes lateral moves to other departments.”
Please join us in congratulating Elizabeth McPartland on her incredible 20 years at Child & Family Services!
