Fostering the Future with Students from The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts
Student actors from The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts gave a moving performance of a play about foster care titled “The Great Gilly Hopkins” by David Paterson and Steve Liebman. The play told the story of an 11-year-old girl named Gilly who has been in and out of foster homes most of her life. Following the performances, cast members along with Child & Family Services’ foster families interacted with the crowd to explain the joys and struggles of being a family in the foster care system. A portion of the proceeds from both performances were donated to Child & Family Services’ Foster Care & Adoption Program.
We thank The Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts for their continued partnership with Child & Family Services.
