On Wednesday, June 26th, the boys and girls at Conners Children’s Center kicked off the summer season with an opening ceremony for their Summer Games. The children decorated team shirts and flags to get in the competitive spirit, and each team gave a presentation about a branch of the military they represented. Afterwards, Kohl’s volunteers from the Lancaster location were on hand to help the boys and girls enjoy a variety of summertime activities and games, including arts and crafts, bean bag toss, relay games and more.
The Conners Summer Games is a weekly program which is part of the children’s Recreation Therapy. By participating in structured recreation activities, the boys and girls have the chance to develop a variety of social and emotional skills while enjoying typical children experiences. We extend our sincere thanks to the volunteers at Kohl’s, and to the charitable foundations and donors who have provided financial support to make recreation therapy activities available to the boys and girls who call the facility home.
