Student actors at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts will present two special performances of The Boxcar Children on Friday, July 26 at 7 pm and Saturday, July 27 at 2 pm at the Blackbox Theatre (450 Masten Avenue, Buffalo). Based on the classic children’s stories by author Gertrude C. Warner, The Boxcar Children tells the story of four children orphaned in the 1930s, detailing their struggles and adventures as they try to make their own way in the world.
A portion of the proceeds from both performances will benefit Child & Family Services’ Foster Care and Adoption Program. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children and seniors, and are available at the door. Immediately following the Friday evening performance, cast members and a Child & Family Services’ foster family will be on stage for a brief talk-back session about the play and the realities facing boys and girls in the foster care and adoption systems.
