Annual Dinner Recognizes Foster & Adoptive Parents

In celebration of May, which is National Foster Care Month, Child and Family Services paid tribute to all of its Foster and Adoptive Parents at the 33rd Annual Resource Parent Banquet. The event was held on Thursday, May 12th, at the Holiday Inn Downtown.  The wonderful evening featured door prizes, entertainment, food and drinks, dancing and other festivities; but most importantly, it was an opportunity for our agency to recognize over 40 sets of parents in our program who open their hearts to children, of all ages, needing a safe and loving place they can call home.

More than 60 attendees joined us for this special event, and an awards ceremony was held to honor a few of our remarkable foster parents who have made a significant contribution throughout this past year. We would like to extend a special thanks to Rich Products Corporation for generously sponsoring this event, and to everyone else who volunteered their time, talents, and made other significant contributions, financial and otherwise, which enabled us to hold this truly important event.

During the month of May, Child and Family Services strives to raise awareness about the increasing need for foster parents.  Did you know that in 2010 there were over 24,000 children of all ages in the New York State foster care system?  If you would like more information on how to become a foster or adoptive parent to one of these truly deserving children, please call Child and Family Services at 716-882-0555 or visit our website at www.cfsbny.org.
