Foster Care
Child & Family Services’ Foster Care and Adoption programs strive to fulfill the
most basic need of a child – the need for a family. The goal of our Foster Care
program is to strengthen families by helping parents develop the skills needed to
provide a safe and stable environment to their children. Unlike adoption, foster
care is temporary; it is not meant to be forever. Our Foster Care program works
diligently to assist families in working towards reunification. Therapeutic Foster
Care is offered to those children with severe emotional, social and behavioral needs.
At the very heart of successful reunification is the foster parent; foster parents
act as role models to the child’s parents and assist the child in growing and healing
by providing stability, consistency, and love.
Adoption
When children cannot return to live safely with their own families, Child & Family
Services’ Adoption program matches children with loving, committed families who
will provide permanency to the child through adoption. Although most children who
can’t be reunified with their families are adopted by their foster parents, many
children in our community do not have a family to adopt them. Children waiting to
be matched with their “forever” families are usually school aged and older and may
be part of a sibling group that should be adopted together. Some may have behavioral,
physical or learning challenges. What each and every one of these children have
in common is their desire to be part of a family they can call their own.
Are you able to share your heart and home with a child in need? If so, you can make
a difference in a life of a child! Please consider becoming a Child & Family Services
foster or adoptive parent. For more information, please call (716) 882-0555 or click
