For over 30 years, Child & Family Services Haven House has been working to promote
peace in the home. Haven House provides safe, confidential services for victims
of domestic violence (DV) and their children. Through direct services and community
education and outreach, we work to ensure that all relationships embrace the principles
of peace, respect and equality.
Haven House offers a broad range of residential and community-based services designed
to empower victims and support them in seeking safety, self-determination, and justice.
Haven House provides victims with the resources needed to rebuild their lives. Children
are taught skills to cope with family crises and learn non-violent forms of conflict
resolution.
30th Anniversary Quilt
In 2009, Haven House celebrated its 30th anniversary of providing domestic violence
services throughout Erie County. To commemorate the anniversary, residents at the
shelter participated in a quilting project to illustrate “30 years of promoting
peace in the home”. Residents created the squares that made up the quilts, and a
local quilting group donated their time to sew them together. The quilts are on
permanent display at Haven House.
Thank You, Mary Kay!
A $20,000 grant from the Mary Kay Foundation has been awarded to Child and Family
Services’ Haven House to combat domestic violence. The grant is part of the Foundation’s
annual $3 million domestic violence grant program; Haven House is one of 150 shelters
participating in this year’s program. The grant will be used to support general
operating costs at the shelter. Unstable economic times have led to a loss in funding
and donations; the Mary Kay grant will help to supplement funds and enable Haven
House to meet the increased demand for services.
