Office of Victim Services (OVS)/Crime Victims Board (CVB)
Haven House staff can assist victims of domestic violence with Office of Victim
Services (OVS)/Crime Victims Board (CVB) applications. Since its establishment OVS
has provided substantial financial relief to victims of crime and their families
by paying unreimbursed crime-related expenses, including but not limited to: medical
and funeral expenses, loss of earnings or support, counseling costs, crime scene
clean-up expenses, the cost to repair or replace items of essential personal property,
reasonable court transportation expenses, assistance to crime victims acting as
a good Samaritan, the cost of residing at or utilizing the services of a domestic
violence shelter, and limited attorney fees.
Victim Information and Notification Every Day (VINE)
The New York State Victim Notification Service (VINE) is a service through which
victims of crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for information regarding
their offender’s custody status and register to receive telephone and e-mail notification
when the offender’s custody status changes. The VINE toll-free number for New York
